Breather III electrical SVRS

Electronic pump shut-off with a limit switch and a control box with 5-10V DC power supply and time delay relays, for suction lift or submerged suction installations.

Why the pump has to stop, not only lose prime

A Breather I or II releases an entrapment by letting air into the pump suction side, so the pump loses prime. The Breather III does that and also turns the pump off. When the seal moves, a limit switch sends a signal to the control panel, which stops the circulation pump at the same moment.

Vacless catalogs it as electronic pump shut-off with center port installation, limit switch, and control box with 5-10V DC power supply and time delay relays, for the suction lift or submerged suction installations.

The federal Act describes this idea in its own words: a safety vacuum release system that “ceases operation of the pump, reverses the circulation flow, or otherwise provides a vacuum release at a suction outlet when a blockage is detected”, tested by an independent third party to ASME/ANSI A112.19.17 or ASTM F2387.

Limit switch, control box, time delay

The control box runs from a 5-10V DC power supply and uses time delay relays. Vacless says the electronic models include a three minute time delay restart and audible alert, so the pump does not start again the instant the blockage clears.

The pump itself can run on 110VAC, 220VAC or 3 PH power. The valve is designed for pumps from 0.5 to 10.0 horsepower, and the Breather III is listed for both suction lift and submerged suction installations.

Inside, it is the same orthogonal seal system as the other lines: a rubber o-ring on a moving disc with dual face and radial sealing. The adjustable models are compliance tested up to 200 feet.

Commissioning, registration and support

Because the Breather III adds a limit switch and control box, it needs wiring by an installer. The installer notes the commissioning date, and that date goes on the warranty registration along with the installer name, the customer name and the site address.

Every Breather III carries a 3 year warranty. The manuals for the Breather III and the Breather III-ADJ are linked below the drawing, and tech support is a phone call away for wiring or model questions.

As with every Vacless SVRS, use it together with an approved anti-entrapment drain cover. Nothing replaces parental supervision, but several layers of protection are the best way to prevent main drain entrapment.
